The best cards ever.

August 5, 2015

My little man is about to turn 1 in September! So let the birthday planning begin! I've been pinning away and narrowed down the theme to camping/outdoors and I cannot wait to get everything together :)
I love planning parties for my favorite little people! One of my favorite things to do for any  occasion is any excuse to pick out  Minted.com invites!
(If you haven't looked on minted check it out! It's a bunch of creative artists, lots of them are stay at home moms, that create these designs, so you can get cool, great quality cards and support other mamas out there, I call that a double win!)

I literally have to start looking weeks in advance (because they are all that good) and start "hearting" my favorites! It's getting down to the wire, so here are my top 3 picks!
I think I know which one will be the winner!

10 random facts about me

August 3, 2015

I know that you don't know much about me considering I'm still new to this whole thing but I figured what better way to start introducing myself by rambling 10 random facts about me:

1.i am currently stuck at this point in my life where I want to be successful in a career, but just can't give up precious time with my kids to pursue it.
2. Pink and sparkly gold are my favorite colors.
3. I never wear matching socks, so much so that I don't even think I could find matching socks in my drawer if I tried.
4. I love soda and candy, my sweet tooth is pretty much uncontrollable.
5. I am extremely unorganized, but pretend to be (although I know I fool no one)
6. I am an excuse maker
7. I actually really enjoy to cook, and am not too bad at it either.
8. I hoard my kids clothes because I don't want to accept how big they are getting.
9. I have severe road rage.
10. I have always wanted to be a mommy, since forever (random embarrassing fact; I played with dolls until I was probably 14)

I actually enjoy partaking in these 10 random facts because I always am interest to document the first 10 things that pop into my mind, and which ones remain the same each time I do it, and which things change!

Girl Date

August 1, 2015

Ri and I have a very close mommy daughter bond, I wouldn't change for the world! I feel guilty often because some days I feel like she just needs some one on one mommy time. So when we have the chance to do something together,, one of our stops is the nail salon! Ri is your typical girly girl, with a hint of tom boy, that loves getting her nails painted! She goes straight to the nail polish and picks out one plain color and one "sparkly " one, they always match by the way!  Anyways, I am grateful for the hour of mommy daughter time we get, and can't wait for many years to come. I hope  and pray that it's a bond that will never be broken.  I love this little girl of mine, to the moon and then some.

Let's Give This Another Shot

July 31, 2015

I started this blog almost 2 years ago now with the intentions of consistently being active in writing and taking some "me time" each day. I wanted to document memories with my family and write about what made me feel good, and what made me happy. But for some reason it just didn't click.

It caused me more stress. I was writing things, and deleting. It wasn't enjoyable, it was a burden. Not that I was totally active In writing or anything I just became overwhelmed with it figured, this just wasn't for me! (and as you can tell my blog layout needs some serious help. Ha.)

Well now time has past, life as blossomed and I want to give this another shot. I'm sitting here writing this with such a sense of calm and relaxation. This, is something that I've wanted to do for myself for quiet sometime now and hey, you have to start somewhere. So right now at 11:14pm it is.

So here it goes

 I'm Kayla

Mom of 2
Rilynn:2
Hudson:8months
Wife to Brad

Family is EVERYTHING! We live in a little town. We work hard. We love each other. We enjoy the simple things and the not so simple things at times. We laugh. We learn. We know we aren't perfect. We are just living this life one day, one hour, one minute, one second at a time and it's just right.

so HELLO THERE

xoxo,

A year older.

December 12, 2013

Birthday's usually have no affect on me, or my outlook on life, for some reason this year's did. Yesterday I turned 24! I feel that I have been going through many life changes lately, not big ones just little things, mostly feelings. Yesterday made them more official, it was an epiphany of some sort. As my husband and I relaxed in the living room enjoying the Christmas tree and the warmth of the heater in silence I was able to express to him what I want the years to come to mean to me, to our family.

I used to be so obsessed with the little pointless things in life. I let things overwhelm me that shouldn't, would stress over the gifts I would be getting, what outfit I would wear, and who would be celebrating my special day with.  Though, those things are somewhat important(who i would be celebrating with) this year they just didn't seem to matter. I could care less what people gave me as a gift, heck I told everyone I didn't even want or need anything. I didn't even have anything to ask for this year. All I wanted was to go to dinner with my little family, of course I had a grumpy little babe so it just ended up being the hubby and I but it was all I needed. It was perfect.

I have realized that I want to live a simple life. A life filled with happiness and joy. The things that make me feel that way are not materialistic at all. Its my family. They truly make me happy. I don't want to stress about how much money I make, what car I drive, or what materialist things I have. Although I do enjoy having nice things, I mean who doesn't, I just don't want them to be a priority. I told my Hubby I want to focus on our relationship, our daughter, and living the life we want to live. We are going to set goals, realistic ones and support each other to achieve them.

I feel an overwhelming sense of calmness. I can't even describe. I just know this will be a good year, and many more to come. I will sit back, relax more often, laugh, be silly, and enjoy the precious moments in life as my family grows together. I feel truly happy and fulfilled. I'm sure turning 24 had nothing to do with just, it just came at the same time where I am maturing and turning into the woman, mommy, and wife I want to be.

DIY wall decor

November 12, 2013

While antiquing a few weekends back I saw a similar wall décor with one small piece of wood and a mason jar going for $45! I looked at my hubby, snapped a pic, and said we're making this!

Me being impatient, and knowing how were are, I drove us straight to the hardware store! If I didn't it would have become another one of those projects we never got around too! I was looking for something to replace some red mirrors on my living room wall that just didn't fit, so I needed a large enough piece of wood to hang, that's why I decided to go with two jars. We purchased the round piece of wood for about 3 bucks, the silver hook things(I'm drawing a blank on the name) for $1.20 each, and some spray paint for about $2.50. I already had the mason jars laying around from Ri's first bday party so we were ready to go. Oh.. we also bought the little mirror hanging hooks and attached it to the back.

I totally failed on the step, by step pictures but when I make some more I totally will! I pinky promise :)

We first drilled in the mirror hanging hook on the back, then spray painted the wood. (I am on the hunt for some distressed wood to make some on, to make it more unique).
After the paint dried the hubby drilled in the silver thingys(yeah still blanking) and then slipped in the mason jars before securing!
Then I added some flowers, I know theyre dead now :( thinking about making some paper ones so it wont be an issue! and hung it on my wall!
Yep its as simple as that! A $45 inspiration all made under 12 bucks! And you better bet these babies will be going out as Christmas presents this year! Maybe i'll put some candles in them. OR paint the insides, Even add some glitter! Totally doing it, mine will be painted gold glitter for Christmas time!
